Why do most gas furnaces have “100% shut off” gas valves and why are they required on all LP fired furnaces? I appreciate any information you can provide. Thanks, Mark

The answer may be that 100% shut off is more critical on LP vs. natural gas because LP gas leaking from unlit pilot will collect while natural gas would more quickly dissipate?
