200 Amp Service Clarification

The statement is accurate and is the norm in terms of what the books says. You have made a choice to reduce your energy consumption by changing lamps and so on in your home (light bulbs are actually lamps) and so you are energy aware. However, with the modern times come modern conveniences that are more power hungry. Most people do not want to be limited in their potential expansion ideology so the norm is a 200 AMP Service. In fact, we can support that by simply comparing sales of 100 AMP versus 200 AMP service panel purchases. Walk down a Lowes or Home Depots electrical isle a few times and see which they sell more of…or better yet ask them.

Fact is the more we expand and grow the more power is needed. While your home may be an exception to the rule…I can tell you that here in Texas where I now live…you will not find any newly constructed home with less than a 200 AMP service…and that will not change.

Just some thoughts on that for ya.
