3 of my hockey heroes 40 years later.

Last Saturday, a good friend called and asked me to meet him as he had “some people I would enjoy meeting”. I never expected to have my picture taken with 3 hockey heroes from the first “Summit Series”](http://www.1972summitseries.com/) involving Canada’s best hockey players against Russia’s best: From left: Paul Henderson, who scored the winning Team Canada Goal in the 8th and final game in Moscow; me; Yvan Cournoyer; Vladislav Tretiak

Canada won by the skin of their teeth. Americans remember this Russian team 8 years later at the Lake Placid 1980 Winter Olympics as they were defeated by team USA.

40 years later, they are still my heroes!

wow great photo,
I was in high school during that series and took the day off to watch the final game. The whole country closed down during that game.

Was that one of Yvon Cornoyer’s many Stanley Cup rings he had on?

It was, 1979!

Glad for you a great Honour… Roy

Awesome Gilles! Although I was only in Grade 2 at the time, I remember the hype of it a the time. I enjoy re-watching the games every once in a while as well.

You got to have that picture framed.

What an honour, congratulations!

Gilles,
I can clearly count for Heros!
All four leaving a great mark,
