"How to" camera pole adapter

I’m not aware of anything available commercially to mount your camera on a pole, so I made one. And for those interested I have chronicled the process.
Material required was about $10 at Lowes
1- 1 1/2"fender washer (I used stainless for the hardware)
1- 1/4x20x1 1/2" bolt
2- nuts
1- inexpensive paint roller
1- tube of epoxy

assemble the hardware as pictured, cut off the bottom 2 1/2" - 3" of the roller handle.

insert hardware into the non threaded end of the handle

invert and use tape to hold in place temporarily

turn it over and place in anything handy to hold upright

Fill with enough epoxy to cover the end of the bolt

24 hours to cure, and you have an adapter

I bought the mount at the local camera store for $29, I’m sure you can find one cheaper online

Now to find an appropriate pole.

Over complicated.
Just screw a tripod straight on with a 50 cent pvc coupling.

Been preaching it for years.

Samsung is a bad brand for it because they suck at anti shake.

Well, then nevermind.

Good deal and nice instructable Frank. A good painters pole or a window washing pole and you’re set… just video and grab some stills.

I have a http://www.longshotcamerasystems.com/ type, has a fancy mechanism to take shots… I don’t use it much, but when I do it’s fantastic.

Thats what I use. Cost me $35 for the hardware, $50 for the pole and I am good to go.

  1. point and shot camera with video capabilities.

Good cheap option.

How do you intend on triggering the camera?

Great instructables style collage though.
Heck if it works -it works.

Let me add though the Sony wx series is the best for the size which is super tiny yet amazing video and under $300.

Bought a couple to have on hand.

Wi-Fi camera that can be controlled , and remotely viewed, with either your phone or tablet.

Here is on option. I just set mine to record a HD video and take screen shot of the areas I want.

That will work !

I looked at my sprinkler supply house and didn’t see any $.50 couplers that would do that. Do you have a picture of one?

I posted shots many times if you do a thread search.

You can now wear the official Pole Cam Logo however and it is "Council of Men " approved.

Just a pvc coupling basically fits right onto the washer pole thread.
Very basic.

Roof hatch was locked on picture in the background.
no problem ]

Another option is to set the delay for 10 seconds.

He is my pole.

I had a small pocket tripod that I hose clamped on (then taped with electrical tape) on the end of a 24 ft pole.

I use an Sony Action Cam (wifi) that I can control with my ipad or Samsung phone. The phone has a better range for the wifi.

I use 5 second interval stills which is pretty ideal. A typical concrete tile roof…I will take 150 or so pics. It takes a few minutes to review them on the big screen back at my office. I don’t recall the exact resolution but its pretty good. I can really crop in on defects if needed and they still look great in the report.

Adapter $20](http://www.ebay.com/itm/ProPole-Painters-Pole-Adapter-For-DSLR-Action-Cameras-Flashes-Microphones-/181410349440?pt=US_Tripods&hash=item2a3ce64180)

Wow, that’s a great little adapter. But mine was $10. The labor is free. That’s why my Wife has me working around the house on a dozen projects. Free labor.
