those disks look like some sort of interferienc limiters. mayby to cut down the magnetic field threw induction to minimize noise in electronics??? eusa_think.gif

Those are current transformers and the other 3 leads are measuring voltage. I bet there is some kind of energy monitor somewhere.

so you say their reading threw induction and monitored elsewere? sound good to me. I’ll ask my electrician.

Yup Jay, you see CTs used on most services over 400a or to drive the meter. These are just a smaller version used for some kind of monitoring. I have some even smaller on my motion lights that will feed a low voltage monitoring system I am setting up.

CT are great for magnetizing a screw driver.

Put a steel screw driver in the centre of the coil touch the two leads to a Direct Current supply

(example a car battery) you now have a magnetized screw driver.

To demagnetize it put the screw driver in the coil and touch the leads to an AC supply and you have returned it to a regular driver .
Highly recommend you do not use 120 volts for this .
A bell transformer should do it .
Does not have to be a CT just about any coil will do and for DC a flash light battery works too.
