Does anyone know where I can get a trial copy, or just a copy of adobe acrobat professional version 6 so I can try it before I buy it?

Unfortunately, Acrobat Pro is NOT free and does not have any trial downloads. Acrobat Reader 6.0 is free.

Joe,

Don't know if you ever got an answer to your question - but since this post popped up again...
Depending on what your usage needs are there are several good software programs out there that will create PDF files that are free. If you do not need all the functionality of Acrobat these programs work well.

CutePDF is awesome! It runs on just about any computer no matter how old - I’ve got it installed on a 133 Mh Toughbook and it runs just fine and is quick.

The only advantage that I can see to Adobe is the ability to add various pages into one document...combining several PDF files into one for emailing, printing and storage.

That said, the Adobe 6 Pro that I paid $100's extra when i bought a new Dell Laptop last week doesn't work - it freezes up when I try to create PDF files from the scanner.
