The statistics from the National Fire Protection Agency are enough to encourage me to install AFCI’s in my home. I wonder if insurance companies offer discounts for the installation of AFCI’s? One would think 862 million dollars a year would be a good motivators for insurance companies.
Only one way to find out… ask!
Many insurance companies here do provide discounts when there are AFCI breakers, as well as smoke alarms, carbon monoxide alarms, and a home protection system. Certain home protection systems get better discounts than others. It’s kind of like auto insurance in that respect. The more you do to protect your car and home, thereby protecting the risk to the insurance company, the better your premiums are.
