All HI's-Do You Own Your Own Business or Work for Company?

This question is more like a poll…I’m curious to see what other HI’s do in surrounding states or even my home state of NJ. I read quite a few discussions on this message board and the ‘laws’ vastly differ from NJ. If you do own your own business are there any hints or tips you’d share? How you get started? Money it took to start up your business? If you work for a company how did you get hired? Or did your training begin through the company?

I have many questions!!!

I own my own and just starting out…wish I had more capital to start as it’s expensive for starting up and advertising. Lots going out and not much coming in…working on a reversal as I speak! icon_wink.gif

Work for my self no franchise, No one to answer to, No boss just lost of work and some expense. From the time I started up in business it has been self supporting not always very profitable at first but enough to keep going. If I had any advise for some one starting out it would be DON’T QUIT YOUR DAY JOB!!!

As a new HI I am seriously considering trying to find an existing business to work for. The fact that they do all the marketing, provide reports and hopefully will help me along with this industry are all good reasons for me. Of course I would love to just go it alone but this seem a hard way to go.

My own company and a ‘day job’ for now. I believe in the easy does it principle. icon_smile.gif

Started my own operation last July 15… I will cross the 100 inspects this month. Tough, scary, but soooo rewarding when it all goes right, which is most of the time.
