Most people use Vinyl casement windows. The biggest reason is because aluminum conducts heat and cold so much more. It can also contribute to concensation.

Modern aluminum windows have thermo breaks and the metal is not any colder than the glass. There is no more condensation on them as you would find on an vinyl window under the same circumstances. I would take a aluminum window over a vinyl window any day for durability. The main reason that more people in our area choose vinyl is price. When I built my house I went with vinyl because of budget restrictions.

Aluminum windows are not often used much any more in my area (Kansas City), especially in the more expensive homes. If we see them at all in newer buildings its usually rentals (like apartments).

Vinyl windows are more preferred between the two.

Vinyl is the dominant material in the remodeling and replacement window market. Aluminum?s market share has been declining steadily because aluminum cannot compete in either thermal efficiency or maintenance.

Although there will always be those who demand an aluminum window, vinyl is expected to continue to grow and increase its share of the remodeling and replacement market.

Outside of the high end market, down here, ALL WINDOWS are aluminum.

Except for a couple of cheap condos which put in vinyl clad windows, and they are all cracking and breaking up.

It's a sunlight thing, I guess.
