I see this kind of stuff all the time.
Local cable TV company hires “sub-contractors” to do their installs.
These dweebs are told to install a ground for the cable wire.
They are told to just connect it to a cold water pipe.
The good ones drill into the basement to find the pipe.
I would guess that the “Dr. Suess explains how to hook up cable” book did not specifically explain that the water pipe must be metal.
I know that it is low voltage and not part of the SOP, but try explaining this when the cable takes a lightning hit.
