Attic Structure in Houston

New builds in Houston always seem to have this type of attic structure. When a house comes to a point in the attic, builders seem to just add random bullshit to fill any gaps. Is there a right way and a wrong way and perhaps a name for this type of setup?

This may not be discussing your exact scenario, but I bet it is the root cause of the problem you are seeing… ie. miter cuts! (Other than most people have no functional brains anymore)!

Yeah makes sense… I see this done so many different ways though. Random scraps to fill those gaps. Measure once cut twice scenarios. Would you call this out and if so how would that be described?

Absolutely! Substandard construction method/workmanship/scrap materials of roof structure.

Ok, thanks Jeffrey.

Yes…

That would be a joke, around here and any other place where they take pride in their carpentry skills. :-1:

I guess the question is does a CORRECT build have a name ? and do you happen to have examples of a correct install?
