cool....now how embarassing would that have been for you(bob) to say...Hey you little FAT man with a tool belt and a voltmeter......don't speak for me...lol
Now see I didn't picture you that way, Paul...while reading your posts.
Come to think of it, I don't believe I've ever met a fat electrician...they all seem to have a constant energy going.
So you would be the first if you really are a little FAT man with a tool belt and a voltmeter.

I am new here at the site and I wanted to explain my reason for being here. I am a small time EC, just myself and a helper. I do lots of referral work for realtors involving home inspection follow ups. I have become good friends with some top notch home inspectors and we call on each other for advice. On the other hand, sometimes I must call an inspector I don’t know to get clarification on something in the report, and I get a kind of chip on the shoulder attitude. I suspect this comes from the animosity that is present between many electricians and home inspectors. Since a large percentage of my business comes from the HI report, I am here to learn more and to offer what I know in return, while maintaining respect between professionals. I have studied the NEC for about 18 years and I am very particular about the safety and compliance of my installations. But I am still learning, and re learning stuff I forgot!
I also paid $500 and took a home inspection course just to learn more about what you guys and gals are trained to look for. The class was taught by a local HI whom I regard as one of the best.
From time to time I may have questions about some of the issues I see that may spark some heated replies, but I only ask them in order for both parties to learn. For instance, many HI's will write up any exposed romex. Some will state that exposed romex is not allowed under 8 feet, but I don't see this in the NEC. It only says "not allowed where subject to damage" Perhaps it is in the IRC?
Anyway I hope we can all work together on this site with mutual respect for all. I can already see there are some very knowlegeable folks here.

I for one am very glad to see Bob Badger return. He has always been very helpful, and explains things to us idiot home inspectors in a manner we will understand.

Glad to have your input as well Brian. Being I am a HI and a EC it makes it kinda nice to be able to mingle back and forth in both areas when explaining something.
