This thread is dedicated exclusively for those students currently enrolled in the InterNACHI online course “Calculating Envelope Energy Loss.”
Heat flowing in and out of a building consumes a lot of energy. Heat loss (or energy loss) is the annual heating consumption in BTUs. The main reason to calculate energy loss is to predict the savings that can be achieved from home energy upgrades, measures taken by contractors (or homeowners) to save energy. Another reason to calculate energy loss is to compare the actual heating costs with predicted heating costs.
Upon successful completion of the course, students will:
Understand basic energy movement; Know how to calculate hourly and annual energy loss; and Understand the principle of diminishing returns.
And, in keeping with InterNACHI’s commitment to Continuing Education, this course is open and free to all members, and can be taken again and again, without limit.
Students are free to pose questions and comments here and join in the conversation with other students. The thread will be monitored by the course instructor.
