While we are on the subject of GFCI’s, I have a question icon_question.gif

When I trip a GFCI and 1/4 of the house lighting goes out at the same time, is this against any sort of electrical code. icon_rolleyes.gif

About the GFCI's being wired to all bathrooms within the house... here in Massachusetts I run into that situation 40% of the time. I will always show my client this situation and let them be aware that if anything should ever trip the receptacle...here is the RESET.

David,

Lighting circuits are not allowed to be on GFCI protected circuits. Of course you have already figured out why!

How about lighting circuits which are controlled by a switch which sits next to the GFI, like let’s say the bathroom light? I see this all the time…

Joe,

They are allowed to be on the same circuit, providing they terminate in the same space, the bathroom.
