Hello everyone


I want to know what is the best way to take a anchor out of a cement slab


Ther are 4 of them they were bolted on to 4 post to hold up a gazeebo.I


took the posts[ 4"] out and all that is left is 4 y shaped braces cemented


into the ground about 5" deep. I just want to take them and cement back


the hole that is left for a smooth surface. can anyone give me any help,


should i use a sledge hammer?

Using a hammer may cause cracking in your slab. I would suggest using a drill bit made for cutting steel. Drill the bolt shaft out at least an inch deep and then plug the holes with some hydraulic cement patch (available at most home improvement stores).

If you still have the metal braces sticking out. Get a diamond blade for a skillsaw and cut the cement around the area. Then breakout the concrete and patch the hole.

You may want to take a reciprocating saw and cut the braces flush with the slab. If some of it is sticking up, grind it until it is flush with the slab. I don’t know where the posts were in relation to the slab, but if they were on the corners or edges, I would try to do as little damage as possible.
