This chimney terminated about three feet from this opened skylight. I found several references to vents terminating near openable windows, but can’t find anything about chimneys. I know it’s wrong, but would like to have a reference.
The only reason I don’t see it as a problem is the chimney and skylight would most likely not be used at the same time. Either it is too cold so you have a fire or it is too hot and you open the skylight. It will be interesting if anyone finds something on this installation. Maybe in the skylight installation instructions.
I would fall under this.
Chimneys shall extend at least 2 feet higher than any portion of a building within 10 feet.

Stephen - That makes sense, but we can’t rely on common sense now can we LOL!
Chris - It was at least 3 feet high, and 2 feet higher than anything within 10 feet. That part was OK.
If fumes from a plumbing vent are considered dangerous, oil boiler exhaust must be too. Right???

Isn’t that the truth. Something along the lines of “Don’t stick hand under running mower”… Whatever happened to survival of the fittest?
Thats how I would look at this…
