That looks like the wire the gas company runs in the ditch so they can later identify where their gas line is. The gas line typically is plastic of some sort and they need something metal to locate it.

So, yes that clamp is okay and just there to hold the tracer wire.

Vince, the weather is super up here…70 today.


We're lacking 4-5" of spring rain but no complaints and no outdoor fires.

I’ve seen all kinds of colors. Yellow, green, blue, black. I don’t think the color matters.

color does not matter. most gas co. try to use a color that’s not going to be mistaken for another, but what ever’s handy, they only need it for its matalic composition. icon_cool.gif
