CO Detectors in Massachusetts

Home Inspectors will no longer be responsible for checking or inspecting for CO detectors, as of last week. The local fire department will now inspect for proper placement of all Carbon Monoxide detectors (while they are on site inspecting for Smoke detectors) before close of escrow. The Seller will be responsible for supplying the certificate of compliance (of both detectors) at the closing.

Acceptable combination smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms must have simulated voice and tone alarms that clearly distinguish between the two types of emergencies.
