Copper and Iron

Here is a good example of what can happen when copper pipes are supported with iron wire type hangers. This pipe had a small leak.

Nice photo!!

Most leaks start out small. . .

Excellent photo Charles.

What Jeff said.

That really is a great picture.

I found a small leak at my first house that did not leak until the nail rusted off where it had completely punctured a copper pipe going to a toilet. It was at a double 2x10 girder and the leak was absorbed by the lumber. No leak was present during the first few years (I was in the crawlspace running phone lines). When running speaker wires around the 6th year I saw the wet wood.

It took about 5 hours to remove the section and replace it due to the girder in the way etc.
