In my opinion, based solely on what I see:
The men are not so sure they need an inspector. Many times they have the macho attitude when we meet at the property. They try and point something out to show the young buck they know this stuff. Usually by the end of the inspection, they are ecstatic their wife hired me. It seems humbling to them.
I had a husband call me about two months ago, wanting to cancel, they wanted to do the inspection. I explained the importance of the inspectio being done by a professional, since the seller likely would not accept any problems they find. He reluctantly agreed. Since the inspection, he has referred two people from his work to me.
