I have signed a contract to buy a 2007 spec house. Inspector found a crack above the garage door and he said if the lintel is not properly sized, it is susceptible to futher cracking. Currently, lintel is present. My quesion: Is this serious enough to back out of the contract or can this be repaired? How can this be repaired?
Cracking above garage doors is common. Around here they require thicker lintels now but the issue has always been a lack of proper through bolting along the span of the lintel.
