# Crawlspace clearance?

Does anyone know the reccommended spec for dirt to joist and dirt to floor. I know tis is too tight but I can’t locate the #'s for my report. This one is 4" to joist and 14" to floor.

[li]12 inches between beams and the soil below[/li][li]18 inches between joists and the soil below[/li][li]6 inches between support post bases and the soil below[/li]Efforts should be made, such as grading and/or removing soil, to maintain these clearances. If this is not practical, then installing borate based [Impel rods](http://www.ewoodcare.com/products/borates_preserve/impel_rods.html) may help to prevent infestation and damage.
