General Requirements

  • Insurance: Obtain general liability insurance of at least $1 million for mold remediators.

  • Training: Demonstrate documented training in water damage, mold, and respiratory protection.

Licensure by Examination

This is for applicants new to Florida’s licensing system.

  1. 1. Education & Experience:
  • Mold Assessor: A two-year associate’s degree in a science-related field (e.g., microbiology, engineering, industrial hygiene) and at least one year of field experience in microbial sampling or investigation.

  • Mold Remediator: A two-year associate’s degree and one year of experience in a field related to mold remediation.

  • High School Diploma: A high school diploma or equivalent with four years of documented field experience in microbial sampling (for assessors) or mold remediation (for remediators).

  • 2. Documentation of Experience:

Experience must be documented with at least 15 mold assessment or remediation invoices for each year of experience claimed.

  • 3. Approved Training:

Complete state-approved training in water, mold, and respiratory protection.

Pass a state-approved written examination covering mold assessment or remediation.

  • 5. Submit Application:

Licensure by Endorsement
