Yes, very true ... just my gut reaction from the pic was that the outer header beam needed to be doubled up, which is usually done for decks with reasonably spaced supports.

You cant use the IRC floor beam/header tables since it is wet use lumber that has lower allowable values, but IRC Table R502.5(2) should give ya an indication as to why deck beams are usually at least doubled joists ... ![icon_wink.gif](upload://ssT9V5t45yjlgXqiFRXL04eXtqw.gif)

Rich ... can ya "fix" that too ...

My guess is that the lag bolts are 1/2 inch too long…

More importantly what software are you guys using to draw all that neat stuff on the pictures?

Welcome Mike … icon_exclaim.gif

I use Power Point to add stuff to pics, but it looks like Richard may have a real handy program. Do tell what ya use Rich.

Robert,

I'm not Richard, but I use Paint Shop Pro to add similar stuff to digital photos, and to lighten photo / change contrast / etc so things can be seen better.

I use a program called Image Composer for simpler stuff. It’s a fairly basic photo editor, but I like it’s ease of use. Unfortunately you can’t actually buy or get it anymore as it came bundled with an older Frontpage suite (which I’ve never used…I prefer writing in HTML). When I want to get trickier I use CorelDraw, Paintshop Pro or U-Lead Cool-3D, often dragging objects between programs.
