I am sure you are the exception to the rule!! I can think of maybe a half-dozen others that do also.
I make an effort with my shoe to cover my tracks on the way out. Not perfect but I likely will not bring a rake. But, I do not really step on the insulation either, I slip my foot under it feeling for the truss or joist.
And, here in GA it is only R-30, not a lot to move.
When attics are blown full of insulation undisturbed I never walk through the insulation. If someone else already disturbed the insulation I will wade through it.
