Hi guys

Are dual pane windows , windows with the thickness of two windows.

say one on the outside and one on the inside. I want to make sure that

that is what is meant by dual pane windows.I believe a single pane

window would be like a stationary windo up high in a home and not egress.

Is this correct?

Thanks Jane

Jane,

Dual pane window "double glazed" have two panes in each sash with a sealed insulating space between them. Some are more advanced than that, but that is your basic dual pane window.

You are thinking of single hung versus double hung.

Single hung is where the upper sash is fixed and the lower sash is movable.

Double hung is where both sashes are movable.
