Russel,

Duh, learned that one a long time ago. No respirator, no crawl space.

I hope you can make it to our KREIA meeting on June 8th in Louisville, KY

Details at www.kreia.org on Calendar of Events.

Erby? I did a search for stalactiform fungus (fungi) and couldn?t find anything even close to that. That hanging stuff looks more like the result of muddy, or mineral laden water dripping down the beams over time, but then you would expect the concrete blocks to be stained as well.

Which leaves us with an alien life form. Yeah, that must be it!

Well, as no one here can answer what it is, I hope to contact the people the seller is hiring to come in and deal with it to see if they get it identified.

It does look like something was spilled from above, what about a bucket of some type of adhesive, and in an effort to get it off the subfloor it may have been thinned causing it to drip? I dunno.

Better picture showing tops of joists and subfloor ]

According to a mycologist I sent the picture to:

"The fungus you show there is certainly a decay fungus and although I cannot be certain as to the exact identity, it appears to me to be one of the brown-rot fungi that can cause substantial damage to structural wood. There are several genera that I suspect but I would only be guessing at this point. The fungus and thus the decay appears to be quite well established and could present an dangerous situation with regard to reduced strength of the floor. "

Has an interesting web site with some good pictures to!

You folks in WISCONSIN. Sit up and take notice. This resource is in your back yard.
