I am looking for some input on the electric disconnect switch for a tankless water heater. I came across an installation where the electric switch was mounted face-up in the cabinet below the water heater. Can any of our electrical experts point to substantial reference that would require the switch to be moved.
No. It’s inside of an enclosure so the NM cable should not be subject to physical damage. Why do you think that it’s a problem?

I saw something similar on the first tankless I had installed. I agree, not an issue.
Thank you for taking the time to look at this and provide feedback. All the other tankless installations inside a recess box had the electric disconnect switch mounted in a weather proof cover on the exterior wall. It just seems counter-intuitive.
