exhaust fans

house built 1999, home owner removed exhaust fan and replaced with portable microwave without exhaust, i recommend replacing exhaust, is this correct or does it matter?

An kitchen exhaust fan is not required in our area.

Remember, many kitchen “exhaust” fans really only filter the air and blow it right back in the kitchen.

Oh, and welcome on your first post!

Yes I agree and write this up as needed .
Those fans that do not exhaust to the out side are just recirculating fans and some have a filter .
They do little for the moisture fumes and do not get rid of any heat in the warm weather.
Be carefull some Microwaves are mounted to close to the stove . see manufactures recomendation.

Thank you. Do you think that rule applies in South Florida?

Jorge,

Simply write it up as “No exhaust fan over stove”.
