Hey Guys,
I am curious what some of you wear for eye protection… regular safety googles, face shields, arc flash rated face shields…??? Let me know, I am curious… I am on the paranoid side and wear a face shield, I don’t want my face getting hit by any sparks, after hearing about an inspector that burned part of his face, when opening up a panel… I am considering an arc rated face shield, but I am not sure if needed for a residential panel…
Let me know. I guess you can never be too safe!
Take Care,
Justin.

Justin,
I take chances just as I do in everyday life...I do not wear any sort of shield or glasses. Maybe I should. I can see my clients now (as I dawn my face shield), they'll start back-stepping away from the area, asking me "Is something about to happen"?

I hate getting zapped
I really don't think you'll find anyone that enjoys it.
Just be careful out there....Hit the electrical panel with the back of your right hand before attempting to remove any cover. Don't touch anything while in there and never use pointed screws to replace missing screws.
The worst that has happened to me to this day is that I tried to tuck a loose wire inside the panel when %*%ZAP@$?#, that particular wire was missing insulation in one area and touched the panel as I was tucking it. I don't think I ever moved that fast before.
If I were training someone, a face shield would most definitely be my advice when inspecting panels.
