Does anyone here offer parallel inspection opportunities or the required 40 hours field training? I will be certified after I finish my mock inspections and need to find field training that doesn’t cost me 2-3k. Im in Columbus but I’m willing to travel within Ohio. I’ve been looking around online but not having much luck. Seems like a avoid that needs filled in Ohio?

Deborah, contact some CMIs or CPIs within 40 to 50 miles, or closer, to your area and communicate with them. Maybe one, or more, will help you. Some inspectors feel as though they are training their competition by ride-alongs or mentoring or hiring.

I contacted ASHI and AHIT, both seem to believe that since it’s been over a year since grandfathering ended, they will have to open it up for people again. I mean does it make sense to require an inspector who has done the 200 inspections in 2020, to have to turn around and arrange for parallels or pay for 40 hours of “field experience” just because they closed grandfathering and then covid happened? They need to quit leaving people in limbo.
Need to inquire further than these two. JMO…
