How do you and what do you do to inspect fireplaces?

I know we can’t see inside details without cameras but what do you do?

Thanks

Andy,

I use a camera if the customer would like to pay for the service.

Other then that, one would basically need to disclaim the interior which is not visible. Document the proper clearance from combustibles.

Ask one of your clients to go ahead and take the flashlight, they will..., ask them what they see up the flue, take a picture of them doing it, looks good in the report...end of that story.

I do look into the chimney from the roof, if its accessible, and without a rain-cap of course.

Not dismantling anything.

I can send a camera down one with a rain-cap or not, for a couple hundred bucks, some people want it done.

Andy, I do a visual inspection of fireplaces If I was to go into more detail I would take more training and charge more.

I have heard good things about the attached course.
