My dad is having a metal roof being installed on his log home. He sent me this picture and I noticed the nails in the flashing along the wall. I thought flashing is supposed to not have holes? Thank you in advance for any advice.
I would prefer to saw a groove in the log to insert the flashing

Thanks for the response Randy. They did cut a groove. It is my understanding that there is L flashing under the Z flashing. Top of the Z is inserted into the log and sealed but then they nailed it. I would consider that incorrect as it can leak. I have researched flashing but can’t seem to find any that address log cabins.
