I came upon a furnace in a friend’s home and noticed a tissue being used as a plug because of possible backdrafting issue. I brought it to his attention and told him he may want to call a H Vac technician or a plumber. I am still in the learnig stage and H VAC and furnaces always has me boggled. My question is did I point him in the right direction?
I see a tissue but it doesn’t appear to be affecting the draft.
A Barometric damper regulates the draft on oil-fired heating equipment pretty well in my experience.

I don’t think so. That tissue may have something to do with a condensate leak but not draft.

My only concern here is the Ryobi tool. Point him in the direction of the yellow or red tool Isle.
