thats because as long as the gas line doesn't come to the appliance from over head a drip leg isn't needed as every rib acts as a spot were water can drip off. ![icon_wink.gif](upload://ssT9V5t45yjlgXqiFRXL04eXtqw.gif)

I do not think so example out side Natural BBQ do not require them .
