It’s all up to the Gas company, as far as I know.

I have put the past behind me,

where , however, it now sits, making rude remarks.

I work for a construction company and we always keep ours 18" up from final grade. It is to make sure that the bottom has no way of rusting. I am pretty sure there is a definite measurement. You can look it up in the IRC.

Our local gas co. has said that it should be 12" off the ground. But, as long as it is not touching the ground, they leave it alone. So I guess by their practice, 1" is enough clearance.

Slainte!
