Inspected a home yesterday with this compression coupling adjoining a poly black gas pipe to black iron. This connection does not seem right but wanted to get a second opinion. Any thoughts would be appreciated on advising my client?
Looks like a ductile coupling used as a transition coupling. As long as it’s not installed on the potable water system I don’t see an issue. These couplings are rated at 150 psi.
Maybe that’s what the local jurisdiction approved. I would have just used a stab connector with a male end.
