David, If the valve would have stuck, I would have shut the gas off and fixed it. Point well taken though, since it was my parents house, I checked it, then closed it and checked it again with my TIF. If I were on a live inspection, it wouldn’t have been opened. Just as I assumed, it needs to be capped.

Hey Carla,
This was my first inspection, it was a practice inspection. This home had about 3200 sq. ft. of finished space. I think it took me about 4 hours.
