Completely agree.
I recommend GFCI protection and it’s up to them to do what they want. I would never recommend something like that item.

The argument against using this as a substitute for a proper GFCI receptacle or a breaker would be the same as that against using extension cords in lieu of a proper wiring: It’s a temporary, makeshift solution, and is not a replacement for permanent wiring or ground fault protection.
