Back in the days when that house was built, Jim, at least the cardbord box forms had some structural rigidity. The new stuff is usually at least 30-50% post-consumer, and I find that it just doesn’t provide the same consistent form support that the older Miller cases did. Surely you noted the deficiency?

Just another use for Duct Tape, form integrity. Empties could be used for rebar. Awhile back, way back early seventies, somebody made a house out bottles, Stacked and mortared. Article was in Look or Life magazine, thought it was out in the dessert someplace.

In the Carribean, and Central America, the typical tool for creating the fillet between the floor and wall is a beer bottle. Maybe this contractor was their tool source .
