I couldn’t get this picture in a reply to the original post. Here is the phone wire hardwire junction------no box. There was about 4 feet of wire and it runs through the nasty looking spray foam.

I would defect, as a safety hazard, any under sink disposer connection unless it was in water proof type cable.

Take some of that foam out in the yard and hold a lighter to it. Run away and try not to breath the fumes. You will certainly not want that in your house anymore.
