Heatilator Gas Fireplace, GNDc36E

We’re in the middle of what is usually considered a rare winter storm here on the Eastern Shore of Md (3rd one this Winter actually) and I’ve got some concerns about a power outage. Therefore, I started looking at my gas fireplace to see what I would need to do in the event of a power outage. I found the owner’s manual on line it says there is a battery backup system that is supposed to be able to light the fireplace in these situations. I’ve pulled the front cover off beneath the logs and can not see where there is any such place for the 2 D-Size batteries to go that they mention. Is it possible that these were installed improperly and the backup was left out intentionally or would this battery compartment be located somewhere that’s not so obvious. If anyone has seen a similar situation or has photos of what is considered a proper installation, I would certainly like to hear from them or see some of their pics.
