Home inspections coming to an end

I have been doing home inspections for 31 years and I will be 70 next year. I have had some major medical issues, but they never stopped me from working for more than a few months. I will keep the structural inspection and design part of my business. As soon as I get my website revised I will be activity searching for more engineering work. I plan to stay involved with the message board, I get pleasure helping others when I can. Unfortunately for me I am a Type A workaholic, so watching TV and raking leaves would kill me in a few weeks. I wish everyone the best.

Thank you Randy for all your expertise and contributions over the years. I “retired” this year from the home inspection part of my business and am doing structural inspections and design. I am a little older than you and felt it best to do so. My best wishes for your good health and future endeavors.

Randy, i can relate. I have had multiple surgeries that have left me unable to do inspections for long periods. I reluctantly had to give up doing inspections. I wish you well. I hope that you are able and willing to share your knowledge and expertise with the next generation of inspectors for long as you are able.

Good luck, fair sails and focus on what’s fun. I sorta retired once(was trying it on for size really), was bored pretty quick, but you’ve got a plan, have fun!

Good luck with the career shift. You have always been a great resource on the board. Staying active and busy is always better than boredom, but remember to schedule some time off now and then.
