How do you determine who owns your domain name?

Since we don’t have a “Geek forum” yet, I thought I’d ask this for a friend,
who is transferring her domain name over to another web hosting company.
I thought I knew, but for the life of me I can’t remember how to do this,
“how can you find out who has your domain name?”
the assumption was that she owns the company/domain name, but doesn’t remember the DNS servers associated with that hosting company, so that she can implement the change over…
