Good day everyone, please assist me with this
, not sure what to comment on this, the connection is coming down from the Solar panels installed on the roof. Is this acceptable? it looks like a safety hazard. Never seen something like this before, it was done by professional Solar Installers in South Africa.

It’s a ground wire (lightening arrestor). It is fine.

This would NEVER fly for a proper ground rod or connection/clamp in the US!

Perhaps @rmeier2 and/or @gwells would chime in with their expert opinions.

Well, this would be an unusual condition to find, but I would write it up something along these lines…

The Grounding system for the rooftop Solar Panel system appeared substandard.
The Ground Rod was not of ‘Listed’ design, and was improperly installed, extending to above grade creating a trip and/or impalement hazard.
There was not an ‘approved’ Ground Rod Clamp used to fasten the grounding electrode conductor to the faux grounding rod. The system conductor relied upon a low-grade solderless terminal connector with hex-nut(s) as attachment.
The grounding conductor may not be of appropriate size/gauge, and may also need replacing.
Grounding may be substandard as a result of the above concerns, and which may be a safety hazard risk for shock.
Recommend that a qualified electrical contractor fully evaluate and repair this and the homes grounding system as necessary.
