Why run a separate ground wire? Just swing it over a few inches and use twist ties to attach it to the chain link fence. That otta give you good ground. I would still check it with my sure test to know for sure.

The test button is the key. This is rigged for some kind of detonation.

I'd get the heck outta there!! ![icon_rolleyes.gif](upload://iqxt7ABYC2TEBomNkCmZARIrQr6.gif) ![icon_rolleyes.gif](upload://iqxt7ABYC2TEBomNkCmZARIrQr6.gif) ![icon_rolleyes.gif](upload://iqxt7ABYC2TEBomNkCmZARIrQr6.gif)

Off topic:
Had a GFCI outlet the other day that tested fine using the test button, but wouldn't trip using my suretest meter. Any thoughts as to why?

Jeff, are you serious? You can’t possibly run into the amount of s#!t you see icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif icon_lol.gif

Kevin-

I belive that the answer to your question is that the GFCI outlet was not grounded. Ungrounded GFCI’s will test with the test button but not with a tester.

Suretest showed it did have ground. I don’t press the button unless it has ground.

Guess the NEC changed the definition of weather proof covers to include electrical tape as an acceptable means! icon_smile.gif

There you go Phil, I like a guy who thinks creatively. Dang fence has a metal post in the ground every so far, an excellent ground I'm sure.

Jeffery,
I'm amazed that your knowledge of basic electrical principles is so lacking. The designer / installer of this clever arrangement has assured the device the greatest possible air flow to dissipate heat. But instead of praising his genius, you mock him. Shame on you.

Your humor is so dry that I'd buy you a six pack of beer to wet it down if you were anyplace close.

Hello,

It looks like their is quite a creative electrician and if I am not mistaken I would not put my tongue on that little brass looking tab sticking out of the GFCI if I was standing in a pond of water. ![icon_rolleyes.gif](upload://iqxt7ABYC2TEBomNkCmZARIrQr6.gif)

Jeff, hope you are submitting all these goodies into the NACHI Photo Gallery

On a side note; twice now I have been referred to as Phil . First Gerry said it at this thread . Now Brian here. I double checked with my mommy. Yup my name is Paul. I'm not upset. I get people's names wrong all the time. And my last name is allways spelled wrong. But I thought it was interesting how both errors referred to the same name 'Phil'. Must be some subliminal thing the way my profile reads that puts 'Phil' into peoples head.

P.S. Don't call me Phil again

Oooopps! Sorry Paul. Maybe your name should have been Phil and we’re sensing it subconciously…yeah okay, we just screwed it up. My bad.
