I like a Yes-We-Can attitude, but Obama takes the cake.

I have a 1988 Pontiac that consitanly gets 32 MPG on the highway, and 28 in town. GM’s MPG rating could be well up into the 40’s or 50’s by now, but their oil well buddies would cry foul. So, big oil “contributes” to the auto companies to make their big SUV’s and trucks. The feds want a piece of that. Obama is nothing but a super-star. I wonder what he would do if for one week, there were no media stories or videos about him as president. He then, would be worried. I really wonder if he is actually working, or just eyeing the cameras. You should feel sorry for his office workers, perhaps they are doing most of the work. Corporate management in action.

Excellant post!!! In order for anyone to understand the full impact of the Chrysler-GM deal, you have to live in this part of the country to grasp the impact on families and business alike. Michigan is estimated to have a 20% unemployment rate by the end of summer. With numbers like this, you will have a hard time convincing me Obama"s plan for the auto makers is the right choice.

What would that unemployment rate look like if Obama didn’t step in? Hmmmmmm.

I’m sure it would not hit 20%. The auto makers were forced to shut down plants and cut ties with dealers. you didn’t see any forcible action happen when the banks got bailed out.

You’re sure huh? Well, Nostradamus, can you let us in on the lottery numbers for next week?

Not for Ford and their employees! Ford won, fair and square. How dare the government come in and force Ford to start all over and beat them again. Unfair to Ford employees, executives and stockholders.

Life is not fair Nick, eventualy you get used to it.

Just 21% of voters support the President’s plan to bail out General Motors.

A portion of Ford employee’s taxes are going to financially support their competitors.

Taxes go to support everyones competitors Nick. This is news???

The government should not be involved with the private sector, Period. I do not care what side of the aisle you are on. There never should have been any bailouts. These companies, like us, have made their business decisions. If they fail then they fail. The failure would be good for them, they would learn something. We are bailing them out because the morons in congress who forced much of the housing industry to make these subprime loans are trying to cover their butts.

The government has never run anything well, or even made a profit, see the postal service. The only people who can get us out of this is the private sector. We are out of money according to Obama, we are bailing out companies by monetizing the debt, see what happened to Zimbawa when they monetized their debt, 231 MILLION PERCENT INFLATION. We are heading for hyper inflation because we are printing all this money. Now he wants us to pay for health care. TOTAL BS.

Brian, say my business fails. Are you willing to give me any of your money so I can pay off my debt and start again? I bet you don’t answer.

Send me the bet money. No.

Government picks and chooses vendors every day to build things, arm people, etc etc.

Unlike you Michael I believe the Govt has done a better job than Big bidness providing me with safe drugs, safe roads, clean water to drink, safe food and on and on.

Don’t like American Govt, move, I’ll fund your ticket.

GM’s competitor (Ford) didn’t get an extra $50 billion of taxpayer money to compete against GM.

Brian, Then why do you want your tax dollars to bail out GM or AIG because of their poor decisions?

You miss the point. The things you listed is what the government should do. Their primary responsibility is to protect the country and it’s citizens. Not tell GM what kind of cars we want. As far as them picking vendors, doesn’t it always seem to be somone they are related to or got a campaign contribution from? They do a great job. I say if you want to live like a socialist then move to Europe, I will stay here and fight to keep my country free.

Whatever Nick, taxpayer subsidies are paid to almost every large business in the country in many different forms. Either you are against ALL subsidies, or you are just full of crap.

Can you give examples of what corporations get subsidies?

Just for the record I am not trying to fight with anyone. You believe what you want to believe, I just want to offer something to think about.

Do you not have acces to Google Michael???

:mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen::mrgreen:

here’s something to think about

I predict GM will be the next AMTRAK.

They haven’t made money in 30 years, and we keep funding that?
