Sorry, perhaps I didn’t explain it well. Last year InterNACHI applied for and was awarded an Florida Educator’s license. InterNACHI developed the very best courses in the industry along with student course material. InterNACHI published the best selling book on mold and submitted it as well, last year. InterNACHI was the first school/organization to submit courses for approval. We then submitted them again.
Only this morning did the DBPR finally officially approve some and reject some. If you look at a calender, you will note that this gives applicants almost no time before grandfathering ends. I think the DBPR realized where the delay was and it wasn’t anything to do with InterNACHI. Hence post #13 of this thread.
O.K. Nick stay with it…in the mean time, during this 90 day extension can we get the hours that are needed thru another org. and does our proctored exam still count.
What happens to the members that already have their licenses.
Nick, What everyone would like to know is what are YOU doing to help them out. What do you recommend and how will YOU be part of the solution. There are a lot of people that have put there faith in what has been sold to them by Nachi and dont just want it pushed off on the DBPR.
Do you recommend other courses either here or are you working a deal with another online school? These arre the times when the members want to see you come through with an answer. These 20 hours should be figured out or developed by Nachi so everyone can work through the weekend to make the deadline.
Nick,
Dont play the word game here. Don’t make me find the numerous post where YOU specifically stated and listed the courses that were acceptable for the mold remediator license. i understand that you have alot of bases to cover, but we were told that these courses met the requirements on more then one occasion. All the Mumbo Jumbo you just staed has nothing to do with the the reality that we are faced with at the moment. Save the double negatives for another time. The fact is we were UNDER THE IMPRESSION that these courses were qualifying courses for the mold assessor license. And that they were under review by the State as CONTINUING EDUCATION CREDITS… Do not mix the two up
You basically described the situation accurately. The DBPR site states that you must complete 60 hours of “mold-related” courses. Our mold-related courses are very much mold related. They are the best, most robust courses in the industry. They were submitted by InterNACHI, a licensed DBPR education provider. And they were submitted the day their office opened last year, and then re-submitted for good measure.
Dancing Dancing Dancing – Please state specifically what they were submitted for! They were submitted for CE approval — they were promoted as being mold assessor qualifying courses – Now they are not all approved — so we are screwed - FIX IT
For the moment…as I keep my brain from shattering. I need to know HOW and WHERE I can make up the 20 hours of accredited hours I’m short. I don’t care about anything else for the moment. I need an answer ASAP, so that I can bang it out over the weekend. PLEASE, Nick I need a straight answer as to what I can do to get my applications back into the approved stack…
First, InterNACHI did everything correctly and timely. Second, the DBPR gave you a very reasonable solution (90-day extension for those who apply on time) to the problem they created by waiting to issue approvals until the 11th hour. Third, David told me that the DBPR told him that you are permitted to take and submit the same InterNACHI mold course twice if you are short the 60 hours and that the DBPR will accept it as a refresher course. (Note, you should try to confirm this independently with Richard Morrison of the DBPR). You will have to also retake the exam for any course you want to retake so that you can generate another certificate for it.
I’m not sure how any member can complain about InterNACHI. We did everything swiftly and perfectly (as always). And it appears to me that the DBPR, despite being swamped, is being reasonable.
Ok Nick
I understand that we are dealing with the State. But we rely on YOU for clarity. The clarity that we had was what YOU portrayed, which was that the courses were good to go for the assessor license, and under review for CE credits. I do not wish to place blame anywhere, as it is counter productive, but i am receiving a boat load of private messages on this matter - where members are off the wall half baked double dipped mad — So – How can we all work together to resolve this last minute abomination?
If the DBPR is allowing 90 days to complete additional courses it sounds reasonable to me.
Keep in mind, 40 hrs of NACHI have been approved.
Hopefully the 90 day deal will be verified during business hours tomorrow morning.

I think Morrison is the route to go here – Try to get some clarity on the remediator license as well if you can. Specifically about the education overlap between the two licenses, and if any of the InterNACHI courses are approved for the remediator license. it has been my understanding that they don’t, but stranger things have come about
That’s nothing. InterNACHI has had an application for our lead course (which has already been approved by the EPA’s consultant) sitting at the EPA in Washington, just waiting for one person to sign and mail the official approval letter. We’ve been waiting for it for a year now.
Some members applications went through and those members already received their mold assessor licenses. The state won’t rescind those of course. But that shouldn’t be our concern.
For the rest of us…
We need to get our applications submitted NOW. Remember, the 90-day extension is only being granted to those who apply before grandfathering ends.
Greg needs to independently confirm with Mr. Morrison if what he told David is true (that we can re-take a DBPR-approved InterNACHI course and that the DBPR will accept it as a refresher course that will count toward the 60 required hours.
Assuming we get the confirmation in #2, we need to submit those additional course certificates within the 90-day period. 40-hours of InterNACHI courses have already been approved, so we only need 20 more.
