I am totally against.

Nick,
I have told you for months that we are the 800 lb. Gorilla on the block and should behave as such.
Glad to see you're coming around!
Just curious as to what that means in practicality?
Ronald,
What it means to me is that it is a privilege - and not a right - for vendors to be afforded the opportunity to market their products to NACHI's 6900+ members. If they value that privilege, they will not take actions (or support those who do) that would cause harm to NACHI members either legislatively or otherwise.
The 800 lb gorilla does have a choice of where he can obtain his bananas and those who wish to have access to his food budget should not be supporting or buying ammunition for big game hunters if they wish to continue doing business with him.

Jim;
I would think that the above stated is obvious.
Sure, people who vend to the HI industry do and should deal with the other associations as well as ours. This is just good business.
However, if they do business with us and with the other groups and slam us, it is just plain common sense to sever ties with them.
I also think that our group and the others should strive to reach out to each other more. This will have the effect of uplifting the entire industry (A rising tide floats all boats) AND confuse the heck out of them by being to friendly towards them.
When I am asked, by Realtors and others, about the other two (1 1/2 ?) groups, i mearly state 'Yeah, they have some good inspectors as well, but I joined NACHI for a reason. They can't match what NACHI brings to me."
That is why I see slamming as such a childish behavior. If we are elite, as we claim, does not that definition exclude childish behavior?

I don’t think it is going to matter much longer anyway… the entire inspection industry is going to be under one trade association roof (like the real estate industry is under NAR) sometime in 2006.

I'm sitting here tonight clicking through all the links in www.nachi.org/whats_new.htm and almost impressed myself right off my chair. We really are the biggest and best trade association in the world.

It is when a thread is falling to the bottom of the forum and someone wants to get it back up to the top to have it more widely read. I believe that Todd has an issue with your opening post and he is wondering why there is not the usual backlash.
