Infrared radiation sometimes reflects from smooth surfaces, in different amounts. It can create what appears to be a temperature change, but this is deceitful. It is wise to learn what images you can trust and what “reflections” of infrared radiation are not to be trusted. When measuring temperatures, this is a very important factor and compensations must be made to deal with this. From the small screws in an electric panel to the reflections on the side of a skyscraper, this reflecting nature of thermal imaging is present all the time during a building inspections.
